Touch a Truck 2011

What is Touch a Truck you ask?  Well, you go to a parking lot and touch trucks.  Literally, that's all there is to it!  Many trucks of all sizes and shapes gathered at the New Orleans parking lot.  The profits go to an organization offering classes for families, you can learn more about the yearly event here.  The event was Saturday, March 19th 2011.  It was really windy and kind of cold but Mason loved it and we stayed for about 3 hours.  At first he was scared of the noise (they let the kids honk the horns and start up the sirens) but you get used to it after awhile.

Mason's favorite things were the tractors, all the "big wheels", the motorbikes, the fire engines and of course the buses.  And the landing of the helicopter, he pointed up and kept saying "kellokopter"

Chuck and Mason in front of some of the CAT machinery.
Mason got a "U-Haul Bank" from the guys in the U-Haul truck and carried it the whole time.
Sitting on a city CAT bus.
He would not move and sat in the bus for a LONG time, we took turns sitting in there (it was warm and out of the cold wind at least).
Looking at a North Las Vegas Fire Engine up close.  (Really he's driving his truck on the bigger truck)
Waiting to get to sit in the fire engine.
Mason in the driver's seat of the fire engine.
Going up a flatbed ramp on a Semi.
He thought it was fun to run up and down.
Look how tiny he is behind the Semi!
"Wheels" Mason kept saying over and over (there was as LOT of wheels)

On the double decker CAT bus, you can see him laughing from the window he thought it was funny he was up there and I was down below with the stroller.
Refusing again to get off the bus...and clenching that U-Haul ever so tightly.
Chuck's favorite part...he got to sit in the seat of a Zamboni!
Mason sort of sat in the driver's seat but got scared so Chuck held him...and the U-Haul.
The Oscar Mayer Weinermobile!  We met up with Grandma and Grandpa Smith and a few of Mason's cousins and their parents.
Looking at the helicopter, Mason ran to it after he saw it.
I think "wheel" was one of Mason's first words....he loves anything with wheels.
 Sitting on a Harley!
Mason kept making "vroom vroom" noises while sitting on the "bicycle" as he calls it.

We can't wait for next year's Touch a Truck!  It wasn't too crowded and was a lot of fun, I think he will enjoy it next year when he is aware he can sit in the driver's seat of some of the different trucks.  I didn't get a lot of pictures of all the trucks there but there was everything from ice cream trucks to SWAT trucks, race cars to street cleaners and even a Shark Reef truck with a live shark in a tank in the back!  Plus, it benefits charity!
