Karaoke Cupcakes

These definitely aren't my best work, or prettiest cupcakes but they were fun.  A co-worker that I've worked with for the past few years took a job opportunity across country.  He loves Karaoke and requested a Karaoke party.  I am usually in charge of desserts at work (mainly because I can't cook, just bake) and decided to make the cupcakes Karaoke themed.  Well I was going to do home-made marshmallow fondant music notes but that's more music related so I decided (due to lack of time) to make microphones on top.  Basically I made chocolate cupcakes (with chocolate chips in them) and home made butter-cream frosting then on half of them put baby microphones instead of sprinkles.

The microphones are made out of 4 things: Kids' ice cream cones (Joy Brand, found them at Wal-mart), Donut Holes, Frosting as glue to stick donut holes in the cone and for the sprinkles to adhere to, and sprinkles.  I just covered the top rim of the cone in frosting, then stuck the donut hold in, let it sit for a few mins then frosted the top of the donut hole then rolled it in sprinkles and put the whole thing on top of the cupcake.  The book I got the idea from (What's New Cupcake) had it using pink frosting and silver dragees for the microphone for a little girls' party.  Since it was for a grown man I used black and gray sanding sugar to cover the microphone so it wasn't too bedazzled and glam.  Easy and they were fun for the party!  (And completely edible!)
I didn't make the brownie-cups on the stand, the co-worker's assistant did but this is all the cupcakes together.  Sometimes I'll randomly post pictures of cupcakes since I like to bake!  I wish I took pictures of these peanut-butter mousse cupcakes I made a few weeks ago, they were amazing!  Maybe I'll have to bake them again so I can post about them :-)
